Use charcoal on the bottom of the vasse filled with water and make sure that it does not touch the  bottom of the bulb by about 5 mm.

Place the vasse in a well-ventilated glass space with a non-falling water level and a cool temperature. Check the water level again to ensure that the bulb or tuber is not wet.
